Another Equilibrium Problem - Do Both Using 5 Percent Rule And Without

ApchemWiki | RecentChanges | Preferences

Answer the following problem WITHOUT using 5 % rule then again With using 5% rule.

At 250°C, the Equilibrium constant for the reaction :

1 PCl5 (g) <==> 1 PCl3 (g) + 1 Cl2 (g) K = 2.15

If the PCl5 (g) was initially the only gas present in the reaction vessel at 0.012500 atm, calculate the partial pressure of all the gases after equilibrium has been reached.

Book Answer:
p(PCl3) = p(Cl2) = 0.0125 atm, p(PCl3) = 7.3E-5 atm
