Approach To AP Lab Class

ApchemWiki | RecentChanges | Preferences

If the leaner was not in the Lab class, it is assumed that the learner would be in an elective course. For the most part, elective course do not assign homework on a regular basis. Therefore, it is assumed that the work done for this lab class will be done in class. The two exceptions are studying for any assessments (quiz, etc) and a reaction set that is due at the end of each week that is part of the predicting reaction section of the AP exam. So, to that end, all work is done in class. To follow with the concept of completing work in class, I approach my duties as more supportive and less directive. I want the students to the work with as little assistance from me as possible. I will prep the labs in groups of two or more labs at a time. This will take less than a period and then students can complete the labs as they see fit. I will assume that they will get approximately one class period to work on the lab for every class period doing the lab.
