Student will be able to:

1. Understand what a Buffer solution is including Common ion effect and how to explain using LeChatlier's Principle explanation.

2. Explain and be able to make a buffer (either acidic or basic) via titration method (i.e. titrate a weak acid with a strong base) and adding the salt of the conjugate base (or acid) to a weak acid (or base solution.

3. Be able to explain varies points (what is going on in reaction bucket) on a titration curve for the following:
a) Strong acid solution being titrated by a strong base
b) Weak Acid solution titrated by a strong base
c) Strong base solution being titrated by a strong acid
c) Strong base solution being titrated vy a strong acid

4. Be able to calculate the pH (and if needed other species) for various points on the above Obj3 solutions.

5. Be able to draw/explain the pH curve for the above Obj3 solutions. Also, be able to show and explain how Strong acid/base pH curves are different than weak acid/base curves (and various strength weak acid/base) especially in the "Buffer" zone.

6. Be able to explain what a pH indicator is (including its endpoint) and how to choose the correct pH indicator for a given solution (for titration, endpoint of pH indicator = Equivalence point of the solution).
