All metals, charges are positive and is the number of column from Left to right of Periodic Table (Na¹⁺ - sodium ion)
All non-metals, charge is negative and is the number of column from Right to Left from Noble Gases (S^2- - sulfide ion)
Only Hydrogen has both, H¹⁺ - Hydrogen ion and H^1- - Hydride ion
