<center><b><nowiki>AP</nowiki> Solubility Table</b></center><br> These rules are used only in the Predicting Reaction Section of the <nowiki>AP Exam</nowiki>. We all know that there are no ionic solids that are <b>completely "insoluble" in water</b>. <br> <b>--------------</b><br> <center><b>Soluble in water</b></center><br> 1.All nitrate compounds (<nowiki>NO</nowiki><sub>3</sub><sup>1-</sup>) are soluble.<br> 2.All acetates (C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>3</sub>O<sub>2</sub><sup>1-</sup>) are soluble except <nowiki>AgC</nowiki><sub>2</sub>H<sub>3</sub>O<sub>2</sub>. Acetate can also be represented as CH<sub>3</sub><nowiki>COO</nowiki><sup>1-</sup><br> 3. All chlorates (<nowiki>ClO</nowiki><sub>3</sub><sup>1-</sup>) are soluble.<br> 4. All alkali metal cations (Group 1) and ammonia (NH<sub>4</sub><sup>1+</sup>) are soluble.<br> 5. All bromides (Br<sup>1-</sup>), chlorides (Cl<sup>1-</sup>), and iodides (I<sup>1-</sup>) are soluble except:<br> *Silver cpds (<nowiki>AgCl</nowiki>, <nowiki>AgBr</nowiki>, and <nowiki>AgI</nowiki>) *Pb<sup>2+</sup>(Lead <nowiki>II</nowiki>) cpds (<nowiki>PbCl</nowiki><sub>2</sub>, <nowiki>PbBr</nowiki><sub>2</sub>, and <nowiki>PbI</nowiki><sub>2</sub>) *Hg<sub>2</sub><sup>2+</sup> (Mercury(I) cpds (<nowiki>Hg</nowiki><sub>2</sub>Cl<sub>2</sub>, <nowiki>Hg</nowiki><sub>2</sub>Br<sub>2</sub>, and <nowiki>Hg</nowiki><sub>2</sub>I<sub>2</sub>) *Hg<sup>2+</sup> (Mercury<nowiki>(II)</nowiki> cpds (<nowiki>HgCl</nowiki><sub>2</sub>, <nowiki>HgBr</nowiki><sub>2</sub>, and <nowiki>HgI</nowiki><sub>2</sub>) 6. All carbonate (<nowiki>CO</nowiki><sub>3</sub><sup>2-</sup>), phosphate (<nowiki>PO</nowiki><sub>4</sub><sup>3-</sup>), and sulfite (<nowiki>SO</nowiki><sub>3</sub><sup>2-</sup>) are insoluble except those of Group 1 elements and ammonia (<nowiki>NH</nowiki><sub>4</sub><sup>1+</sup>).<br> 2. All sulfide (S<sup>2-</sup>) are insoluble except Group 1 and Group 2 and ammonia (<nowiki>NH</nowiki><sub>4</sub><sup>1+</sup>).<br> 3. All chromate (<nowiki>CrO</nowiki><sub>4</sub><sup>2-</sup>) are insoluble except those of Group 1 and ammonia (<nowiki>NH</nowiki><sub>4</sub><sup>1+</sup>), <nowiki>CaCrO</nowiki><sub>4</sub>, and <nowiki>SrCrO</nowiki><sub>4</sub>.<br> 4. All hydroxides are insoluble except those of Group 1, ammonia (<nowiki>NH</nowiki><sub>4</sub><sup>1+</sup>), <nowiki>Ba(OH)</nowiki><sub>2</sub>, <nowiki>Sr(OH)</nowiki><sub>2</sub> and <nowiki>Ca(OH)</nowiki><sub>2</sub>.
