Dilution is when you add solvent to a solution. So the # of moles of solute does not change from the concentrated solution (higher molarity) to dilute solution (lower molarity). So you can use equation, M_cV_c = M_dV_d to solve problem (c = concentrated solution and d= dilute solution).
