• Objectives of Periodic Table

• Handout out Periodic Table Notes 1 and ([MCAS Exam Periodic Table]) for all learners not printed out last night
  • In groups or individually, fill-in handout from reading book
  • Using directions in notes and book, using coloring pencil, markup above Periodic Table (make sure tell learner to make key)
  • Will let learners use marked up Periodic Table on Quiz
• Last 10-15 minutes, go over Will discuss section of handout

• Finish coloring Periodic Table if not done
• Will have students take notes at home on Periodic Trends as follows:
• 1st window, print out Periodic Trend Notes for Powerpoint, a webpage for learner to write notes
  
• 2nd window, (read below before clicking) click here [Periodic Trend Powerpoint Presentation]
  • This is a powerpoint presentation of the notes (not including audio)
  • If you click on it, you must tell computer to open file NOT SAVE, too large to save.
    
• 3rd window, (read below before clicking), click here for audio, [Audiofile Periodic Trend Intro thru Atomic Radii]
  
  • Same as the other file but this file is even larger so OPEN DONT SAVE
    

• Clear up any last minute words learner could not get for colored Periodic Table
• Working in groups, handout one Periodic Trend Notes for Powerpoint handout for each group. Then have each group come up with the answer for the first trend.
  • Put main emphasis for reason of trend on board
  • As a class, come up with a general answer
• Repeat for the other trends

• Have Quiz on Coloring Periodic Table next class (can use your table for quiz)
• Do the same as last nights next (using same powerpoint presentation and handout) but using [Audiofile Periodic Trend IE thru EN]
  

• Do Colored Periodic Table Quiz A or Colored Periodic Table Quiz B
  
• Have learners grade each others in class.
• Go over as a class any problems from the class before trends and explanations
  • Show how explanations are all same
  • Handout copy of Rubric for Periodic Table Trend Explanations
• Repeat the same as last class except with the new trends
  • Let me do all the new trends and then ask if any quetions
  • Before leave for day, pick one trend from first set and have them answer it individually, then go over as group

• Will have quiz on one trend from first set
• Do the same for last set of trends ([Audiofile Periodic Trend IR thru MC])
  

• Quiz on Quiz on Periodic Trends (answer key) and one of the following possible quizzes, Quiz A Periodic Trend, Quiz B Periodic Trend, Quiz C Periodic Trend
  
• Let them use Rubric for Periodic Table Trend Explanations
• Let learners use rest of class to work on review homework (in groups or individually)

• Review Homework for Periodic Table
  
• Have learners print out and review Objectives of Periodic Table

• Check to see learner did homework
• Hand back and go over Quiz
• Go over objectives for test and format
• Handout Take Home Portion of Periodic Table Test and go over it
  • Due date will be made so that learners have a weekend

  • Let them listen to the song once, [Periodic Table Song by Mike Stanfill "www.privatehand.com"]
  • Second time everybody sings or they do a third time alone.
    

• Study for Test on Periodic Table

• Test on Periodic Table , [Periodic Table Test Multiple Choice], [Additional MC and One Periodic Table Trend Test], and [Answer Key for Periodic Table Test]
  • memorization of facts (do not get to use colored Periodic Table)
  • Placing element in correct order of trends
  • Need to explain one trend (as per the rubric). Let learner have copy of Rubric for Periodic Table Trend Explanations during test
