Here are the answers to Two Selected Problems from the 8 Problems to determine Molecular Polarity from the Initial 10 Lewis Dot Structures HW.
3) H2O1, in Bond Polarity box, H - O is polar bond with polar symbol looking like this +---> if the atoms are arranged here. In other box,
- Number and types of bond polarity: 2 polar bonds
- Geometry (symmetry): Bent, not sym
- Polar Bonds cancel out: No
- Molecular Polarity: Polar molecule (dipole)
- Type of IMF: Leave blank for now
7) C1F4, in Bond Polarity box, C - F is polar bond with polar symbol looking like this +---> if the atoms are arranged here. In other box,
- Number and types of bond polarity: 4 polar bonds
- Geometry (symmetry): Tetrahedral, Sym
- Polar Bonds cancel out: Yes
- Molecular Polarity: Non-polar molecule
- Type of IMF: Leave blank for now
