Empirical Formula is one type of chemical formula. Empirical formulas are the simplest number ratios of atoms/ions that make up that compound. Knowing what an ionic and molecular compounds are, ionic compounds can only have Empirical formula. On the other hand, molecular compounds have both Empirical and Molecular formulas.
