Here are answers to CP Homework After Dalton thru Bohr.
1a) JJ Thompson experiment:
- He added high energy to two pieces of metal in a vacuum and it produced a green glow.
- He then put a magnetic on one need and the green glow bend away from "-" end of magnetic.
- He changed the power of magnetic and green glow bend more or less depending on power of magnetic.
1b) What did the results of his experiment explain with respect to atom.
- Green glow was not light.
- It must be a particle that came from inside atom of metals.
- Particle is negatively charge.
- We call it an electron.
1c) Plum Pudding Model, atom is made of electron (negatively charged particles) and rest of atom is postively charged.
2a) oil dropping, electron's actual mass and charge
2bi) proton (p+), located in nucleus, 1.67E-24g
2bii) electron (e-), located outside nucleus, 9.11E-28g
2biii) neutron (n0), located in nucleus, 1.67E-24g
