Equilibrium : LeChatlier's Principle
Def:
The system will never be able to get back to the original equilibrium position, no matter how hard it tries.
Stresses that change the equilibrium
(leave space for class notes)
There are 4 parts to answer: stress, how stress affect rxn, make more product or reactant, shift right(more product) or left(more reactant)
1. A change in concentration:
(What happens to the equilibrium constant: change or unchanged)
2. A change in temperature(need to know if reaction is exo or endothermic):
(what happens to the equilibrium constant: change or unchanged)
3. A change in pressure (for a homogeneous gas system):
(what happens to the equilibrium constant: change or unchanged)
4. A change in catalysts:
(what happens to the equilibrium constant: change or unchanged)
