<center>2020-2021 CP Objectives of Chemical Bonding</center><br> <br> <u>General Understanding of When Atoms Come Together</u><br> <br> 1) Be able to identify an element as metal, non-metal or semi-metals from its location on the Periodic Table.<br> <br> 2) Be able to explain what a covalent bond is, what elements would create one, the name of the most common compound you get from this bond and the base unit(s) (or particle).<br> <br> 3) Be able to explain what a "ionic bond" (does not really exist) is, what elements would create one, the name of the compound you get from this "bond", and the base unit(s) (or particle).<br> <br> 4) Be able to explain what a "metallic bond" is, what elements would create one and the main components of the metallic bond.<br> <br> 5) Be able to tell if there is a covalent bond, "ionic bond" or metallic bond between two elements.<br> <br> <br>
