The learner will be able to:<br> <br> See [[2020-2021 CP Objectives of Chemical Bonding]] for what types of elements come together to form Molecular compounds (MC) or Ionic compounds (IC)<br> <br> 1) Memorize the seven (7) diatomic elements (H2,N2,O2,F2,Cl2,Br2, and I2). Also, know their phase (also called state of matter, liquid, etc) at room temp (20°C)<br> <br> <u>Molecular compounds (MC)</u><br> 2) Write the chemical name from the chemical formula (called a molecular formula) of a molecular compound (cpd) and write the chemical formula from the chemical name.<br> <br> 3) Memorize the Prefix Table in Naming Molecular Compound handout.<br> <br> <br> <u>Ionic Compounds (IC)</u><br> 4. Using the Periodic Table (or from memory), be able to determine the symbol and charge of ions that elements from the Periodic Table become as they lose or gain valence electrons. Also, you need to be able to state the name of these ions.<br> <br> <br>
