These are the questions associated with the Observation of a Chemical Reaction Lab, [[Lab - Observation of Chemical Reaction]]. Please answer them in your lab notebook. If you can not print a copy of these question, rewrite question directly in lab notebook then answer them.

1. When you added the blue solid into the water, what color did it turn ?

1a. Was it now an element, compound, heterogenous mixture or homogeneous mixture?

1b. Was that a physical change or chemical change? If it was chemical change, indicate which of the 4 observations of a chemical reactions you observed.

1c. Using Kinetic Molecular Theory (KMT) or Particle View, explain what happen to each particle (water and solid). It should justify your answer in question 1b.

2. When you added the Aluminum foil (basically solid elemental aluminum) to the blue solution, what happened (give observations).

2a. Was that a physical or chemical change?

2b. Using KMT, explain what happened to each particle (elemental aluminum & components of blue solution). It should justify your answer to Question 2a.

3. Define filtrate and filtrant below. Hint: one is the material that goes thru filter paper or does not.

3a. Give observations of the filtrant.

3b. Give observations of the filtrate.

4. Give me an actual example of a chemical change.

5. Give me an actual example of a physical change.
