<center><b>Homework for Retake for Electron Configuration and Atomic Mass</b></center><br> <br> Answer all the question either in complete sentences and/or showing all work (for math questions). All work on separate sheet.<br> <br> 1. Define a node and indicate how many are in each energy level?<br> 2. State the four Quantum Numbers and explain what they mean and give their symbols.<br> 3. Explain Balmer series with respect to the three requirements stated in the objectives.<br> 4. Give an example of a metal, non-metal and semi-metal element and explain how you can determine it from the periodic table.<br> 5. Give the electron configuration for the following elements and ion (also give number of valence electrons for s&p block elements):<br> *Mg , Cu , Mo , Br1- , I , K1+ 6. Define atomic mass and calculate the atomic mass of following elements: O and S (by using exact mass of each ion)and H and N (by using mass number). Information on mass number, exact mass and percent abundance can be found in your notes (handout on this information).<br>
