Equilibrium

Essential Question: Do you believe that? (theory explains observations) Each student will be able to:
1. Explain equilibrium and what conditions you need including defining reversible reaction. 2. Write the equilibrium constant expression and calculate the equilibrium constant and/or all equilibrium concentration for a reaction. Also, knowing how the equilibrium constant expression changes with species in the solid phase and water (i.e. liquid phase).[http://www.doe.mass.edu/frameworks/scitech/2001/standards/chem10_119.html 9.1]
3. Predict the shift in equilibrium when the system is subjected to a stress of concentration, pressure, volume, temperature and catalyst (<nowiki>LeChatelier</nowiki>'s principle). Remember to explain using the 4 steps (stress, how system gets rid of stress, make more product/reactant, shift left/right and favors forward/backward reaction).[http://www.doe.mass.edu/frameworks/scitech/2001/standards/chem10_119.html 9.2 and 9.3](7.6)
