Review of NHS to date (May 21 2009)
Steps to NHS Induction Ceremony
- June: Before end of school get Faculty Council together
- Send out email for volunteers
- ??Under what conditions do Faculty council members need to be known??
- Early July: After all GPA are determined, send out application packages
- Based on Level 1 B GPA cut-off of 3.25
- Problem with knowing all applicants received package
- last year did email to duxburynhs@gmail.com
- Certified mail, cost??
- ??Add a page to application that says I would like to apply (or not) and also have permission to look at discipline file (signature page), have them send it right back (so can look at discipline problems in summer)
- Late August: All applications are due
- Give at least 3 weeks to complete application
- Check for missing information and send out request for missing information
- 1st week of school: All information in and Faculty Council meets and decides
- If need, set-up meeting on applicants with issues
- Send out acceptance letters
- Have follow up meets and reconvene Faculty Council to determine applicants with issues, Principal meeting, etc
- General Meeting before Induction: Week before Induction
- Go over Induction Ceremony and find out if someone can't make it
- Hand out general information package on upcoming year info
- Get nominations of Officers, have officer election before induction so can name in ceremony
Other comments
- Officers meet more often in month (w/o me), need more communication of service hours thru year
- Separate email address for advisor and nhs (so president can manage)
- Officers use Google documents/spreadsheets to maintain service hour
- How do we generate GPA during year for probation
- How do NHS knows when one of its members gets in discipline problems???
- Money for induction pins???
- Start up tutoring over at Student Union
