I personally find rust interesting. To find out how long it takes something to rust and under what conditions could be a good lab i think. You could set up different metals and have a few conditions for each; such as being wet and in a dark closet or wet on the windowsill, that kind of thing. Thats the topic i would have liked to spend a little more time on.
