Kinetic Lab - Decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide (27%-Chlorine Free Shock)

Directions - Part 1 (Integrated Law Experiment)

1. Take the gas bubble counting apparatus you made.Take off the top.
2. Add in ______ml of hydrogen peroxide (Shock) with a graduated cylinder.
3. Add water to the top part as your partner adds 1.0ml (from a disposable pippette)into the Erlimeyer flask (bottom part of gas bubble counter).
4. Make sure to put top on as soon as possible.
5. Start counting bubble after you start see bubble continuously.
6. Record the total bubble count every 5 seconds. 7. Keep recording data on table until bubble stop forming or 15minutes.

8. Using the data, go into Mr. Webster room and graph the data and try to find order of reaction

Directions - Part 2 (Method of Intitial Rates)

1. Take the gas bubble counting apparatus you made and wash as needed. Take off the top.
6. Record the total bubble count intially.
7. Repeat Step 1-6 with two different initial concentration.
8. Get other initial data from others in the class.
9. Make an appropriate table for Method of intitial concentration.
10. Determine the order of reaction.

Questions

1. Are the orders of of reaction the same for both methods? Should they be the same?
