Mass of a Precipitate Lab
Directions
1. Add 20.0ml of 0.100M potassium chromate to a 100.ml beaker.
2. Add 20.0ml of 0.100M barium nitrate to the beaker.
3. Briefly stir with a stiiring rod and make observation (do not let stirring rod touch bench or you will lose some solid)
4. Obtain a 125ml Erlemyer flask and funnel.
5. Mark your initials on a piece of filter paper and mass it. Record value.
6. Filter the solid product through the filter paper.
7. Make sure to rinse the beaker and stirring rods to obtain all solid.
8. Record observations of the filtrant and precipitate.
9. Place filter paper and precipitate in an evaporating dish and locate in oven.
10. Next class, take dish out of oven, let cool.
11. Mass the filter paper and record. Dispose per teacher instruction.
