Standard Reduction Potential Table and its Usage

The Table Itself

1. It is a list of reduction half-cell reactions. There are no Oxidation half-cell reactions

2. The highest positive half-cell potential will want to reduce (gain electrons) more than anyother.

3. The highest negative (i.e. highest absolute value with a negative sign) half-cell potential will want to oxidize (lose electrons) more than anyother

4. Reduction of hydronium (H+) ion to hydrogen gas (H2 is the standard and is given a half-cell potential value of zero.
