0.1M Ammonium acetate solution |
1.0M Ammonium acetate solution |
The rule is that:
1) Salt made from cations from a strong base and anions from a strong acid DO NOT react with water and therefore the pH of the solution will not be effect (ie pH=7.00).
2) All ions from weak acids and weak bases DO react with water . So the pH of the solutions will change.
Procedures:
You will be checking the pH of the following solutions using the Logger Pro pH probes.
Before that, each group will make one of the following solutions.
Data Analysis
You will be calculating the pH of each of the solutions and then comparing the calculated pH to the experimental pH.
The solution to be used are (you will make 500.ml):
1.0M Potassium chloride solution
0.1M Sodium fluoride solution
0.1M Ammonium chloride solution
0.1M Sodium acetate solution
0.1M Lithium nitrate solution
1.0M Ammonium acetate solution
