Questions
1. Write down the correct name of the sample. What does anhydrous mean?

2. If you had not heated the sample long enough to remove all the water of hydrate, how would it affect percent water?

3. If you had heated the sample long enough to decompose some of the anhydrous salt (i.e. the ionic compound), how would that change the "x" of the hydrate. Explain

4. With your understanding of hydrate and anhydrous material, explain how you could use anhydrous materials in the package shipping industry (i.e. you work for <nowiki>FedEx</nowiki>). (Hint: think about what anhydrous material does and when would you need it in shipping). P.S. It actually is used, so look for the material next time when you get a package in the mail. It may be called a dessicent.
