- Finish your Periodic Table Trends take home project (teach an adult), it is due 1st class that we meet following the weekend
Essential Questions: Are there any basic particles?
Will be doing the last few objectives (11-14) that were not on the last test from
Objectives of Electron Configuration and Atomic Mass - Revised 2008
Wed 11/13 Due: Thurs 11/14
Objectives of Electron Configuration and Atomic Mass - Revised 2008
Mon 11/4 Due: Tues 11/5 ( Need test could be at end of these week or begin of next week)
Tues 10/29 Due: Wed 10/30
- We are starting a new section, Periodic Table. In the periodic table, the elements are aligned in increasing atomic number (number of protons but also electron). With the shape of the table and the increasing atomic number we find two thinks; 1) going across a row (called a period), there are known trends (ie increase or decrease) of specific chemical and/or physical properties. Second, going down a column (also called group or family), all elements in a family have the same outermost subenergy and same number of electron (valence electrons) in these subenergy. This cause the elements to all have similar chemical properties. So, we will be looking at specific Periodic Properties (as will be discussed in next bulleted information. Instead of me lecturing in class, you are going to do it at home so there will be time in class to work on the Poster project and other activities. So read on to start the lectures.
- Start working on Periodic Trends.
- I will not be lecturing about the Periodic Trends. Instead, you will be listening/writing notes from online lectures as follows.
- You will need to print out the handout, Periodic Trend Notes for Powerpoint and then open the following Powerpoint Presentation, [Periodic Trend Powerpoint Presentation]. Then you will open the following audiofiles one at a time and follow along on the powerpoint presentation while taking notes on the handout. Each audiofiles is about 15minutes long. They are:

Tues 10/8 Due: Wed 10/9 (Posted after, on 10/9)
Fri 10/5 Due: Tues 10/8
- Print out Light and Energy Equation Problems. Please do at least 1 problem from the 3 sections of the handout.
- Here are answers to problems, Answers to Light and Energy Equation Problems Remember to look on the 3 handouts you got in class for how to do/show work.
- Note: For all people doing problem by equation, if you get problem that ask to go from the Energy to wavelength ( I call them combined equation problem), I would like you to do solve using both equation separately and DO NOT combine the equation into one big equation)
Thur 10/3 Due: Fri 10/4
Essential Question: Are there any basic skills/theory in the study of chemistry?
Objectives for This Section(2nd test):
Tues (Oct 1) before or after school, can do a re-take of Math section of 1st test (Posted Sun 9/29, 9AM)
