Another Limiting Reactant Problem

ChemistryWiki | RecentChanges | Preferences

Ammonia is produced by the reaction of hydrogen gas and nitrogen gas by the following reaction:

1 N2 (g) + 3 H2 (g) --> 2 NH3 (g)

If 25.3 grams of hydrogen gas and 14.7 liters of nitrogen react:

a. Determine the limiting reactant.
b. Determine the mass (in g) of the product that is formed in the reaction.
c. Determine the excess reactant and how many grams or liters are left after the reaction.

Answer: a) N2 is Limiting Reactant
b) 22.3g NH3
c) 21.4g H2 is "in excess"
