Dalton's Law Of Partial Pressure Problem Set 1

ChemistryWiki | RecentChanges | Preferences

1) A mixture of gas consists of oxygen gas, nitrogen gas and carbon dioxide gas. If there are 0.456mole, 1.20mole, and 0.645moles of each gas, respectively in a container of 1.25L with a temperature of 34degreeC, what is the partial pressure of each gas and the total pressure?

2) A mixture of gas consists of water vapor and carbon dioxide gas. If there are 3.24mole of water vapor and 1.69mole of carbon dioxide in a 0.750L container at a temperature of 21degC. What is the partial pressure of each gas and the total pressure?

Answers:
1) PO2 = 9.19 atm, PN2 = 24.2 atm, PCO2 = 13.0 atm, PT = 46.4 atm

2) PH2O = 78.2 atm, PCO2 = 40.8 atm, PT = 119 atm
