Name: __________________________________ Period: ______

Answers the following questions in the space provided.

1. What are the two main parts of Kinetics and what questions about chemical reaction do they answer?

2. What happens if the reactants have an Effective Collision (EC) and what two criteria do you need for an EC?

3. What is definition of activation energy.

4. Most chemical reactions actually require several sub reactions (called reaction steps) for reactants to form products. Why?

5. For the Hydrogen Peroxide lab, what was the physical observation that determine the rate of reaction. Was the numeric values of the physical observation and the rate of reaction (i.e. how fast you made product), directly proportional or indirect/inversely proportional to each other (i.e. as one number went up, other number went up would be directly proportional). Explain your answer.

6. On the back of this page, explain) how increasing temperature will increase the rate of reaction. Please make sure you show the Kinetic Energy Diagram and how the graph helps to explain why there is an increase in the rate of reaction. Graphs don't say anything you must show the graph then explain what the graph means.

7. Also on the back of this page, answer the same questions as in Question 3 except either choose a) adding a catalyst or b) increase surface area (Hint: increase surface area actually something about one of two criteria of an Effective collision)?
