Remember: Need to Write Down First Balanced Chemical Reaction and Equilibrium Constant Expression
1. At a given temp, the following reaction reaches equilibrium in a 1-L container.
1 H2(g) + 1 CO2(g) <--> 1 H2O(s) + 1 CO(g)
At equilibrium, the 1-L flask contains 0.13moles hydrogen, 0.25moles carbon dioxide, and 0.57moles carbon monoxide. Calculate Keq for this reaction and show units of K.
2.For the reaction , 2 KClO3(s) <--> 2 KCl(s) + 3 O2(g)
Keq = 2.3E-4. What is the equilibrium concentration of oxygen (O2)? What about the concentration of KClO3 and KCl?
3. For reaction 2 H2S(g) <--> 2 H2(g) + 1 S2(g)
a 0.50-L container initially has 4.00 moles of H2(g) and 2.50 moles of S2(g). At equilibrium, 75% of S2 has remained (left over) at equilibrium, what are the equilibrium concentration of all species and then calculated K (equilibrium constant)?
4. For the following, please write the equilibrium constant expression:
1 CaCl2(s) --> 1 Ca2+ + 2 Cl1-
From reading Pg533 (section 18.9), this K has a special name and symbol. What are they?
Answer:
1. K = 17.5 or 18 (unit of M-1)
2. K = 0.061M or 6.1E02 M. Will discuss other answers in class
3. [H2S]E = 2.50M
[S2]E = 3.75M
[H2]E = 5.50M
K = 18.2 (units of M)
4. See discuss in class
