Complete problem sets (only 2 question per problem set) from GasLaws handout
Mon 5/16 Wed 5/18
Go To GasLaws and print out homework webpages. If you did not get the handouts of this Gas laws webpage and/or Gas Demo, then print it out from the webpage.
Just read all handouts before class.
Acid Base Test Mon 5/16 Make-up for Bonding Test Thurs 5/12
Thurs 5/12 Due: Fri 5/13
Look at Lab Part II to understand questions
Start studying for the solubility & acid /base test (see above for dates)
Read and take notes on Section 19.1-19.8 (for section 19.5 just read, no notes). Use Electrolyte handout (given in class) as part of your notes. Remember, while reading salt = solid ionic compound.
Fri 4/29 Due: Tues 5/3
Read Section 16.9 again and make sure you understand Fig 16-13 (read caption) so that you can answer the following questions.
At 25degree C, what is solubility of sodium nitrate.
If I had a KCl solution with 52g KCl in 100g of water (@55degree C), is the solution unsaturated, saturated, or saturated solution with solid KCl at bottom of container.
Read and take notes on Section 18.9 (Solubility Equilibrium) especially the sample problems and on [Solubility Equilibria handout]. Do not do problems at end of handout.
Thurs 4/28 Due Fri 4/29
Study for Bonding test
Tues 4/26 Thurs 4/28
NH3 vs. SiCl4 please provide:Give geometry & bond angle of compound (show all information to get this), each bond polarity(show calculation), explain molecular polarity (remember explanation needs to include bond polarity and geometry). Then explain vapor pressure and IMF of each compound. Finally, explain which compound has the greater Boiling point including explaining what boiling point is.
Read and take notes of SolutionBookNotes1 handout (remember to go to website asked in handout)
Mon 4/25 Due Wed 4/27
No Formal Lab write-up. Please put Vapor Pressure lab in lab notebook and write observation and then explain which will have higher vapor pressure (using observations). Please include explanation of molecular polarity type, intermolecular force type and strength.
Fri 4/15 Due: Mon 4/25
Pg 428 #12 (also determine/show bond polarity and explain molecular polarity)
