6. Give the 3 types of Mode of Heat/energy Flow and how they are different (i.e. what is between energy source and energy receiver). 7. Using information from EndoExothermicReactionLab, explain the difference between an exothermic and endothermic reactions including activation energy and the difference between the PER and PEP.[10.3](6.4) 8. Be able to identify the heating/energy sources and usage in your house and how they used/work.(see notes from Energy at Home Handout) 9. Be to reproduce and explain (using KMT) the heating curve, difference between a gas and vapor, updated definition of boiling and difference between evaporation and boiling (see notes from Phase of Matter Lab) 10. Be able to explain the conceptual parts of labs, EndoExothermicReactionLab and Phase of Matter Lab For 2010-2011, Math Section 1. Show all work in mathematical problems as stated in class. 2. Use scientific notation in calculations. 3. Use dimensional analysis appropriate to solve problems including showing all work; units canceling, number before you round in correct scientific notation and two more sig fig than in answer, and answer in proper form (sig fig & scientific notation if needed). |
6. Using information from EndoExothermicReactionLab, explain the difference between an exothermic and endothermic reactions including activation energy and the difference between the PER and PEP.[10.3](6.4) 7. Be able to explain Calorimetry and be able to calculate calorimetry problems. |

The student should be able to:(bolded number are MA Framework Standard numbers)
Show all work in mathematical problems as stated in class.
Energy
1. Understand and give example of the Law of Conservation of Energy including giving example of kinetic and potential energies.[10.1](6.4)
2. Understand and be able to explain the 2nd and 3rd Law of Thermodynamics.
