As you know, there are two major types of compounds, Molecular compounds and Ionic compounds. This webpage deals with Molecular compounds.
A question one may have is,?How do I know if my compound is molecular or ionic? This is a good questions that actually has two answers as follows.
In general, molecular compounds are composed of 2 or more non-metals with hydrogen being considered a non-metal.
- Being more specific, though, it is a compound where there are covalent bonds (called chemical bonds). Remember, a covalent bond is when two atoms share their valence electrons. You will get in more details with respect to this topic when you study (or have done) Chemical Bonding. Of course, this produces another question,
