Energy is needed to from one phase to another. Energy is used to change how particles relate to each other and not give energy equally to all particle (called increase temperature).

Notes from Observation of a Chemical Reaction.

What are the four observation that a chemical reaction occurred.
A permanent color change - indicates a chemical reaction 
Gas is generated. Gas can have an odor or not - it forms bubbles and the bubbles contain the gas that have a “skin”, which is water

Can any of these observations be also an observation of a physical change/process. Explain.
 No because they have different properties. The physical properties of a particle says that the base units do not change, making the observations different.
