<b>Course Expectation</b><br> The student will:<br> *Complete Homework per the deadline, no late work accepted *Participate in the course including in classroom discussion, group work and all other aspects of the course <br> <b>385 Environmental Science (Level 2) Course Description (Level 2) Gr 11,12 Elective (1/2 Year, 2.5Cr)</b><br> *Students will identify and research environmental issues and practice scientific protocols while investigating environmental problems. An emphasis will be placed on students using critical thinking and analytical skills to make a positive impact on the environment. *Prerequisites: Successful completion of Biology 1 and concurrently taking a chemistry course. <br> As an overall guide, we will be reading Thomas L Friedman's book; Hot, Flat, and Crowded: Why We Need A Green Revolution - And How It Can Renew America (ISBN-13 978-1-59413-335-0)<br> <br> <b>Proposed Topics (In no particular order)</b><br> *Human Populations and Effect on Earth's Resources *Environmental Resources and Pollution *Current Energy Situation *Future Energy Potential (i.e. Alternative Energy) <br> <b>Grading / Assessment Types</b><br> *For each section, there will be a "traditional" type of assessment (i.e. multiple choice quiz, etc) and a "non-traditional" type of assessment (i.e. written project, oral presentation, podcasting,etc). <br> <b>Class Communication</b><br> Will be using the Moodle for communication, direction to find Moodle: 1) Go to duxburymoodle.com 2)DHS Science and Tech 3)Environmental Science Elective
