<b>Pirate Day</b><br> <b>Morning</b><br> *Read some children books **Hey, Little Ant (about how everything is similar to everything else) **Sand by Ellen Prayer (about sand how it is made, where it comes from, different types) **How we learned earth is round by Lauber (history explanation of how we figured it out) **How much is a million (ways to understand magnitude of number, <b>will adapt it to mole</b> <br> *Made Cartisian Divers, show density of substance & pressure **[[How to Make Cartisian Divers]] <br> *Powers of Ten Video (from Ames) - did not look at it in class but said was good source for magnitude<br> <br> *Walk the plank **Egg dropping contest (engineer,design) both egg support and then with egg by itself **make sure to let kids change design if need be between unsupport and supported egg <br> *Haul Away the Bounty **Make Al foil ships (that you will foat on water) **See how many washers can put on Al foil ships **Get container of pre-separated Al foil **Give each group 3 pieces of Al foil **Covers engineering and density <br> *Alka Sellsor Cannons **Use template and have kids make cannon with straws **Need to get the film canisters that hold on inside not over top **Student put a few drop of water in canister and put tablet in container and cap **Make sure to have cap side down so container is the cannon ball <br> *Karen showed here 3D models (magnet) that shows ionic cpd (table salt) and molecules (water) **Would be good visual on how ionic cpds are just make up of ions and molecules are not. <br> *Also was given a Pirates treasure map (a picture of an island with grid on it) **Would be good as a review game for test **Answers to questions are whole numbers that you count blocks for directions to the treasure. <br> <br> <b>Click here to go back to your mainpage [[Tom Heyman, click here]]</b><br>
