Anion Table - Revised 2009-2010

This list does not include anions you can get directly from the Periodic Table
PLUS ONE CATION POLYATOMIC IONS: Ammonium NH41+

Help For Memorizing in Two Sets

1st Set: Phosphate (PO43-), Sulfate (SO42-), Nitrate (NO31-), Chlorate (ClO31-)

2nd Set: Phosphite (PO33-), Sulfite (SO32-), Nitrite (NO21-), Chlorite (ClO21-)
NOTE: ONLY DIFFERENCE IS -ATE HAS ONE MORE OXYGEN ATOM THAN -ITE.

1st Set:Ammonium (NH41+), Carbonate (CO 32-), Hydroxide (OH1-), Cyanide (CN1-),

2nd Set: Chromate (CrO42-), Peroxide (O22-), Acetate (C2H3O21-), Permanganate (MnO41-)

GENERAL NOTE: -ITE AND -ATE MEANS ELEMENT & OXYGEN ARE COVALENTLY BONDING IN POLYATOMIC ION. -IDE IS ION THAT ONLY HAS ELEMENT.
