Problems On Determining Redox Reactions

Using your notes from Redox Reactions, please determine (showing all work) the species reduced, oxidized, reducing agent and oxidizing agent for the following chemical reactions.

For the following (Not Balanced rxn) chemical reaction, do the following:

*Show all the oxidation of each "atom" above it.
*Make the appropriate brackets with Reactant oxidation number ---> product oxidation number, then "lose or gain e-
*Make sure that one bracket is above chemical equation and another below
*Then write down (as described in notes) what is oxidized, reduced, oxidizing agent, reducing agent.
*If no oxidation numbers are changing from reactant to product, write NOT REDOX RXN (but must show oxidization numbers)


For the following (Not Balanced rxn) chemical reaction, do the following:



a. 2 Al + 6 HCl --> 2 AlCl3 + 3 H2











b. 2 KClO3 --> 2 KCl + 3 O2













c. Cl2 + H2O ---> HCl + HClO
