Introduction:
pH indicators are chemicals that change color at a specific pH. pH indicators are actually weak acids. Each indicator has a different pH at which it will change colors.

pH indicator pH use a series of different ph indicators at the same time. So the resulting mix of all the pH indicators produces a "specific" color at different pHs. There is a color to pH value scale on the side of the container.

In the lab, you will be using pH indicator pH to determine the pH of various solutions as stated below.

Objective: To use pH indicators (via pH paper) to determine the pH of various solutions
Directions:
1. Go to a station and write down the description on the data sheet.

2. Take a pH indicator paper strip and place in the solution. Record the color of the paper in the data table.

3. Using the pH scale (uses color to indicate pH value) on the side of the pH indicator paper strip container, determine the pH from the color of your strip. Record on the data sheet.

4. There is a "Used pH paper strips" container to put the used strips in (Do not leave on bench top)

5. Use the below data table to record your observations. On a separate sheet(s) of paper, using the pH value obtained from the pH paper reading, you will show the calculates need to determine the other information asked for in the data table. Please show all appropriate work.
