Difference (from prior author revision) (major diff, minor diff)

Added: 4a5,46
Th 5/5 Due: Tues 5/10

*Print out and read the following webpages
**GasPressure
**GasParameters
**Barometer and Manometer Notes (do not fill these pages in, we will do it in class)

Due: Tuesday 4/12

*Print out a copy of VsperTable
*To deterime the geometry and bond angle for a species (molecule or polyatomic ion), the following is checklist to help you:
**For the following the types of bonds (single double triple) do not matter
***If only have 2 atoms , always linear geometry with bong angle 180
***If have 3 atoms (there is a central atom), no long pair (LP) on central atom, always linear geometry with bond angle 180
**For species with only single bonds, use the table portion of VsperTable (click and print a copy so you can put these note on the copy)
***The first column of the table is asking you how does the central atom follows the Rule of Eight (Octet Rule), ie. Row with 1st Column is 2 (Be is only element does it), Row with 1st Column is 3 (B is only element), Rows with 1st Column with 4 are elements that want 8 valence electrons around, and then 5 and 6 are central atoms that have more tham 8 valence electron around it (called exceed Rule of Eight)
**For species with double or triple bonds (could have single bonds also but at least one double/triple bonds), you are not responsible for correct name so you write "Planar" with unknown bond angle
***Exception to this rule is if molecular geometry is linear (see first two rules above) or trigonal planar (only three atoms are central and central atom has no lone pairs around it).
*Homework
**Print out three copies of [Worksheet for Molecular Geometry]
***There are 4 blocks on a page. Each block is one question/problem/example
**You do the following questions (since there are 10 examples, you will need 10 block thereby needing 3 copies/pages:
***H2 ,HCl ,H2O ,NCl3 ,BeF2 ,SF2 ,CF4 ,CO2 ,SO42- ,ClO31-

Tues 4/5 Due: Wed 4/6

*Study for Multiple Choice test on periodic table
*Print and start work on Take Home Portion of Periodic Table Test. Next Friday April 15 (Due last day before April vacation (even if absent or leaving early)

For Periodic Trend

*Intro thru Atomic Radii
**Print out Periodic Trend Notes for Powerpoint so you can take notes.
**Download and start Power Point Presenation,[Periodic Trend Powerpoint Presentation]

**Make sure that your browser allows you to simply open the document. Do Not try to save file too large),[Audiofile Periodic Trend Intro thru Atomic Radii]

*IE thru EN
**Keep on putting notes on Periodic Trend Notes for Powerpoint and looking at Power Point Presenation
**[Audiofile Periodic Trend IE thru EN]
*IR thru MC
**Keep on putting notes on Periodic Trend Notes for Powerpoint and looking at Power Point Presentation
**[Audiofile Periodic Trend IR thru MC]

Thurs 3/24 Due: Fri 3/25

*If did not get copy print out and complete Review for Homework for Kinetics and Equilibrium
*Option Homework, will give homework credit if this handout is done completely, Review Homework for Equilibrium Test - Revised 2009
