Course Expectation
The student will:

Complete Homework per the deadline, no late work accepted
Participate in the course including in classroom discussion, group work and all other aspects of the course

385 Environmental Science (Level 2) Course Description (Level 2) Gr 11,12 Elective (1/2 Year, 2.5Cr)

Students will identify and research environmental issues and practice scientific protocols while investigating environmental problems. An emphasis will be placed on students using critical thinking and analytical skills to make a positive impact on the environment.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Biology 1 and concurrently taking a chemistry course.

As an overall guide, we will be reading Thomas L Friedman's book; Hot, Flat, and Crowded: Why We Need A Green Revolution - And How It Can Renew America (ISBN -13 978-1-59413-335-0)

Proposed Topics (In no particular order)

Human Populations and Effect on Earth's Resources
Environmental Resources and Pollution
Current Energy Situation
Future Energy Potential (i.e. Alternative Energy)

Grading / Assessment Types

For each section, there will be a "traditional" type of assessment (i.e. multiple choice quiz, etc) and a "non-traditional" type of assessment (i.e. written project, oral presentation, podcasting,etc).
